Danny Boy
Oh Danny boy, Burkett, Burkett is calling,
From Abilene, in his faxes he has lied.
Your career is gone, and credibility is dying;
'Tis you, 'tis you must go, now don’t be snide.
Don’t come ye back in winter or in summer,
When you might think the time has passed for lying low,
For this whole thing is such a major bummer.
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, you blew it so.
Update: Check out "Little Dan Ratherhood."

Democrat Lament
Senator Kerry is running for prez,To reply, email texthepontificator at yahoo.com.
But pay no attention to what the man says.
He’ll say one thing here, and another thing there,
It’s peace for the salmon and feast for the bear.
The man has no principles that you can see.
Whatever you want is just what he will be.
His numbers are falling, he’s no idea why;
Perhaps it’s because the man's way too darn sly.
The liberals accept him because he’s not Bush;
The mere thought of Dubya makes blood pressures whoosh,
But Bush has a record on which he will run.
Three decades ago was John’s time in the sun.
His years in the Senate count only for naught;
For Kerry just zip is what those years have bought.
Bush was a wastrel when back in his youth,
But Kerry’s a dud right now and that’s truth.

Experimenting on School Children
Joanne Jacobs quotes a Seattle school superintendent and school board member criticizing charter schools on the grounds that children are too precious to experiment on. She then quotes another blogger ridiculing that fear.
The ridicule is deserved, but there is an additional point. Conventional schools are only to happy to experiment on school children with the latest educational fads. It's only when experimentation comes from the competition that the public schools think it is bad.

Doggerel Bait
Instapundit points to a New York Post editorial on Memogate that concludes:
Rather defined the terms of the discussion, asked the questions, picked the individuals who responded, presumably screened their answers — and basically declared himself innocent.Given how fond I am of basing doggerel on nursery rhymes, this is too good to pass up. Hence:
That is, he stuck in his thumb, pulled out a plum — and said: "What a fine anchor am I."

Covering up a big lie.
He sucked on his thumb, but would not stay mum,
He said: "What a newsman am I."

But slaughtering us is a sacrament, see?
They regard us all as Christmas geese.
Where do we get the chutzpah to be?

Lawyers and Trees
Noting the large stacks of paper circulating in a case, a co-worker exclaimed, "God save the trees." That of course motivated some doggerel:
God save the trees from lawyers,To reply, email texthepontificator at yahoo.com.
We all must surely pray.
They keep up work for sawyers,
Forever and a day.
The sawyers, they then prosper,
And send their kids to school.
The kid may then be a lawyer.
Ain’t the system cool?
