Get Along Home, Cindy Sheehan (Doggerel)

Well, it’s Cindy in the papers;
It’s Cindy on TV;
If she can’t bring down President Bush,
She’ll rant for all to see.

Get along home, Cindy, Cindy;
Get along home, Cindy, Cindy;
Get along home, Cindy, Cindy;
You’re pushing sympathy.

I wish she would be rational,
But that is not to be.
She’s reduced to a mere spectacle,
She hates both you and me.

Get along home, Cindy, Cindy;
Get along home, Cindy, Cindy;
Get along home, Cindy, Cindy;
You’re pushing sympathy.

Explanation: I do not wish to make light of Ms. Sheehan's grief. It must be staggering. But many other American mothers and fathers are bearing it with dignity and are not seeking media notoriety for the purpose of undercutting not only what her son died for but the security of this country and our way of life. At some point her grief can no longer shield her from criticism for her own irresponsible actions. She has thrust herself onto the public stage as a political actor and must accept what comes with that.
